SUSAN'S HAITI TRIP09/30/2011 - 12:20
Susan Knapp is going to Haiti!
Our own Susan Knapp will realize a long-held dream and will be going to Haiti on November 5 to work with Habitat for
Humanity. The build will take place November 5-12, and there will be about 400 volunteers from throughout the US, Canada and other countries. The goal is to build 100 homes during that week, and the homes will feature earthquake-resistant
construction.During her time there, Susan will build houses by day and share a tent with six people at night.
First UMC has undertaken the goal to raise the needed funds to send Susan to Haiti. We are proud to announce that over $4,600 of the $6,000 needed has been raised!. This has been through the efforts of many, serving at fundraisers, baking cookies, individual donations, and much more! The next great effort is the Macho Man Bake Sale on Sunday, October 9th

OPERATION SHOEBOX09/30/2011 - 11:49
It’s time for shoeboxes!
Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Their goal is to demonstrate God's love in a tangible way to needy
children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Over 8 million
children around the world received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox in 2010.
The Northeast Indiana OCC area sent 27,000 boxes last year. Our goal this year is 40,000 boxes!
Gail Haglund, the FUMC church secretary, is helping with OCC at her church, and she invites you to join her in spreading God’s word to children around the world. Here are the easy steps:
Get an empty shoebox
Determine if your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the age group (2-4 yrs, 5-9 yrs, or 10-14 yrs)
3. Fill the box with gifts
4. Include a $7 donation to Samaritan’s Purse
5. Place a rubber band around the box and bring it to the FUMC church office.
Gail will take it from there.
If you have any questions or want more details, contact Gail at the church office.
